Ezra Linehan-Clodfelter Write something that is fun for you! Maybe don't dive in to insane world-building madness for your first book (or, do if that's what you want). For the actual act of cranking out words, you just have to sit down and do it. I get distracted at home so I go write with a laptop in a coffee shop usually. For my first couple of books I used to try to write five pages a day, but you could do less or more as long as it doesn't burn you out.
Ezra Linehan-Clodfelter Definitely hearing people's reactions to my books. I love hearing that somebody loved this character or hated that one. Getting people to have emotional responses to fictional characters is super amazing.
Ezra Linehan-Clodfelter I do have issues with writer's block sometimes, most of the time when it comes to plotting. If I have an established character or two, I can throw them into a scene and just bounce them off of each other until the scene is complete, but it's much more difficult for me to sit down and figure out the entire bones of a story. If I'm stuck, I usually just think of the very next scene and write that, hoping it'll jar something loose and if it doesn't, I just keep writing scene by scene.
