Hi Britta, I saw your review on David Eagleman's Book.. the Brain. i am about to start reading it. your review is absolutely helpful to set up a standard to start the book. as you mentioned this book touches the concepts on a highlevel, can you suggest some books which deals things in detail? Guten Tag Frau Böhler, ? Ich habe gerade Ihr wunderbaren Roman "La décision" ausgelesen. Mir hat sehr gefallen ! Zur Zeit habe ich nur "Buddenbrooks" gelesen und eine Biografie über Katia Mann (I. & W. Jens). Ich freue mich Ihr nächstes Buch/Roman zu lesen. Bitte Entschuldigen Sie mein schlechtes Deutsch. Gibt es einen Grund, warum der "Brief" und "The decision" hier nicht kombiniert wurden? Ich möchte einer englischen Freundin das Buch empfehlen, das scheint irgendwie schwierig und es fehlt die deutsche Wertung. Diese Freundin sagt, es werden kaum neue deutsche Autoren übersetzt und ich suche nun bißchen Literatur für sie heraus (tatsächlich schwierig), natürlich nehme ich auch Britta Bolt auf meine Liste.
Britta Böhler Ja, hatte ich auch schon gesehen und ich weiss nicht, wieso das so gemacht wurde. Die engl. Ausgabe wurde offensichtlich von meinem engl. Verleger bei goodreads eingestellt. Ich hab schon versucht, das englische Buch und das deutsche zusammenzufügen, ist mir aber nicht gelungen…

Tut mir leid, dass ich nicht weiterhelfen kann.

What are you currently working on?
Britta Böhler Rodney Bolt and I (writing together under the pen name Britta Bolt) have just finished the third book of our Posthumus-series. It will appear next spring in the UK.
And I have started a new novel of my own. The book is set in the 15th century, a biographical novel of sorts… I think… But who knows how it will turn out...

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Britta Böhler I do 'automatic writing', the way the surrealists did. This is a fantastic tool to overcome stuckness.

Britta Böhler In the books I write, I can be any person I want to be.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Britta Böhler I became a Dutch citizen in 2007 and I was thinking a lot about the fact what it meant to be 'German' without having a German passport anymore. At the same time I was reading Thomas Mann's diaries and his experience of being an immigrant sparked the idea for the book.
