Jamie Sinclair Years ago, at a friends wedding, my debit card was lost. After much searching of the venue, a staff member returned it to me later that same night. A few days later I noticed some money missing from my account - a payment to eBay. Then another. Small sums. I contacted Paypal who checked and refunded the money and advised I report it to the police. It turned out that my card had been cloned and used in numerous transactions. The criminals were eventually tracked to a flat in Ireland where they had hundreds of cloned cards. Police informed me that the criminals had been put on a plane and deported back to their own country. It was fascinating to keep receiving the updates from the police and get a small sense of their work and very satisfying to know they caught those responsible.
Jamie Sinclair The idea came from an article I read a couple of years ago on the BBC website about Ferry Pilots which, until then, I was completely unaware of. There had also been stories in the news about children imprisoned in their own homes. Then I read When She Was Bad which made me consider tandem plots and this book is the result. I use the theatre as a setting and to move the plot forward simply because my wife and I are big fans of live theatre and it fits the idea that the central character reinvents herself. The theatre in the book is just down the road from our house.

Jamie Sinclair Depends what you want from it. if you want to be a writer as a career, I'm not qualified to offer advice. But otherwise, if you have a story to tell, tell it. Write it down, enjoy it and share it. If people like it, great. If not, write another.
