Learn how to receive and when to apply feedback—it can make or break a writer. Don't just blindly change your work because one person believes you should. Take your time and review all feedback, look for trends. If one person thinks a character needs to change that's their opinion, but if three others feel the same then adjustments may be in order.

Thanks, Susan. My parents used to say I was born singing. My father taught me to read music and play rudimentary piano when I was four. I then went on to study classical clarinet and even went as far as music school before pivoting and moving into IT. I also spent many years playing alto sax and singing in a number of jazz and rock bands. There isn't a day that goes buy where some music isn't playing in my house!

I completely pull away from the project and try to do something that involves no creativity at all—like cleaning, working out, or balancing the checkbook. Then I sleep on it. When I'm ready to go back to the project—usually with stronger ideas and more enthusiasm. :)
