I'm currently working on my new novel, The Jewel Thief. It's another novel set in the World War One/Depression period here in Perth, Western Australia. The protagonist, Anna, is a fiery Polish girl who has to resort to stealing to survive during the Depression.

The best thing about being a writer for me is being completely in control of events in your story; being able to make whatever you like happen to your characters. Being able to explore your creativity and let your imagination run wild is a liberating and compelling experience.

Force myself to write whatever comes into my head, and then edit it later! Or go for a long walk, take a shower, do some mundane floor-scrubbing - whatever gets me thinking long and hard about whatever is stumping me.
