Dave Buschi Great question! The idea for INSIDER X came to me in stages. It wasn’t one thing that inspired me to write the book, but rather a cascading series of epiphany moments. I was a late arrival to Facebook and Twitter. I remember first setting up my Facebook page. At the time I thought I was the last person to be joining the “dark side”. Everyone had a Facebook page… or so I thought.

Like many who have done the Facebook thing, the beginning period can be pretty exciting. You’re friending folks you’ve lost touch with… friends from your past… from high school… college. It’s kind of a whirlwind for the first few days. You go from having two friends to twenty in an eyeblink, and it just seems to steamroll from there.

What I found funny during that first-blush period was the amount of fake friend requests I got. I would get a friend request from someone claiming to be a University of Florida grad (I went there for graduate school). Almost in every case, there’d be a picture of a very attractive girl who I definitely did not remember. And the name didn’t ring a bell.

Of course, not wanting to accidentally insult an “old friend”, who was about half my age in the photo (she must have been 3 when she went to UF), I’d check out their profile and see they had a handful of friends. None of which I knew. It quickly became clear to me this was one of my best friends, who I must have forgotten! No doubt about it… I was one of their first friend requests!

Anyway… you get the idea. Lots of chuckles. And that was just Facebook. Twitter was in a whole other league, as any who have joined Twitter can attest. I picked up a few followers that made me see just the tip of the iceberg.

I was intrigued. I researched this whole fakery thing. Wanted to see what was really happening.

Wow. Make that a double, all caps WOW.

INSIDER X, as scary as it is, is right on the mark with what it uncovers. I could share links to articles I’ve read that would blow your mind. Frightening stuff and absolutely perfect background material for a thriller.
