First, this isn’t the smoking gun you think it is. Alfred is a Reaper. He has a legitimate reason for being around. Alfred negotiates souls for his side. His function, although evil, is undisputed, so he gets a "pass" from divine Power angels because of his hierarchical purpose. Powers aren’t supposed to interfere with Reapers, not to say it doesn’t happen from time to time, but as a rule, they leave each other alone because there are far-reaching consequences for interfering. Alfred says later that it’s why he was chosen for this task and why he’s so good at it. Second, because Alfred is a Reaper, Reed wouldn’t see him as a threat even if he did notice him here (which he doesn’t). Powers see Reapers as weaklings. Reed would’ve been suspicious later if he knew Alfred was hanging around Evie, but again, Alfred is allowed to exist because of the accepted role he performs. Third, I tried to make it clear how extraordinary Evie is to Reed. So much so, that seeing her, for Reed, is like witnessing a supernova. Everything about her is taboo and dangerous. In this first encounter, it’s like Evie pulled a pin in Reed’s head and his mind exploded. He’s not thinking about what’s happening around her. He’s only seeing her—and it costs him later. When she’s around, she makes Reed blind to danger. (He explains this to her often.)

(view spoiler)[I would like to write a prequel to the Premonition series. The arc of the story would be high fantasy--Evie as the Faerie queen and Brennus as her love in a time before time--before the modern world or her lifetimes as a human soul. However, I have several books I'm slated to write before I could tackle this one, but I hope to one day get to it. I miss the Premonition characters because they've been such an integral part of my life for the past eight years. It has been a struggle to move on to other stories, but I feel it's necessary to do so in order for me to grow as a storyteller. (hide spoiler)]

I just binged this series and loved it! I hope you do explore more with Brennus. I'm in such a book crash now that it's over.

Thank you for reading my stories, Nichola!! Iniquity is the final book in the Premonition series. I'll miss writing these characters. They've taken me on an amazing journey and made a writer out of me. I don't know if I'll ever be able to let them go entirely, but for now, I have new worlds I'm dying to explore "and miles to go before I sleep."

Thank you for reading my stories! I'm very grateful. I'm open to the idea of writing more books in the Kricket series. We just have to convince my publisher that it's a good idea.

I think of this series as the one that "got away" in terms of it having potential for being a great series, but falling flat due to the ending. It's unfinished. I understand the intent but the execution was poor. It needs a real ending. So...end it. Right now it's false ending is irritating and ruins the entire series.
