Origin Story: Like you, as I wander through life and look upon the faces of strangers and those I pretend to know well, I imagine their private thoughts and make up a tale. So it was five years ago when Chelle and I completed our own Tour du Mont Blanc. Along this hike we encountered many of the characters found in A Walk Away. Each on their own journey. Some who shared their story, Others whose history I only imagined. At this same time, my dad was unexpectedly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He responded to his fate with an openness that became his final gift to our family. These two parallel life events were the inspiration for the story of La Belle Elizabetta, out for one last walk as she, as do we all, must choose how to live knowing she will die.
