I have been asked that a lot and my response is always the same. I never have experienced writer's block. You may scoff at this but it is true. How do I do it you say? I do not write from a detailed outline. I write the way we all read. I experience and live the story first hand. I never know what will be waiting for me around the next bend or on the next page. I may discover a new character or adventure or landscape. I then need to understand how it impacts the story, the other characters and why it exists and where it came from. This means I live the story as I write it. I can't wait to get back to writing just as you can't wait to get back to a great book and find out what is next. It keeps it constantly exciting and full of adventure for me. I keep notes by me all the time so as I wake up in the middle of the night or during the day I have thoughts or new characters that occur to me, I write it down and can come back later and add them in. Inspiration and insight cannot be scheduled. It happens and I always try to be ready when it does. Then when I sit down at the keyboard the adventure floods in and I can't wait to see what is coming next. It is really exciting.

I love meeting people. I meet them as I write in the form of my characters. I meet them in my appearances and get to talk with them about their lives and how my books and reading in general help them rise up. There is nothing better than discovering the positive impact your works have had on someone else.

Start now. Write something and get some feedback. This puts you on the path. Each time you produce something you will learn more about writing, character development, drawing in readers and the business of authorship. It really is like starting your own business. Don't give in to discouragement, learn from it and come back better. Be patient but also keep pushing the envelope.

Two things. The final touches and printing process involved with bringing book 3 of the Giants in the Land series to the world. It should be available in June 2015 and I am very excited about the result. The story is crazy exciting, the illustrations better than ever and DeepRiver, my publisher has been awesome to work with.
Second, I have finished my first book of a new trilogy and my publisher has just started the process with me to bring it to market in 2016. It also is exciting young adult fiction that should keep you on the edge of your chair and up way past your planned bed time reading. Watch for this new one next year, The copy-written working title currently is "StarPassage".

One step on the road leads to another. I find inspiration in every person, every day. It is noticing the little things that produce the great discoveries. My books are therefore full of such seemingly small things that end up having enormous results for good or ill. To many of us wait around for the comet to strike or some other huge life changing event to produce inspiration. I love life because it is in the small quiet moments of navigating each day's journey that the spark of inspiration is truly found.

The Giants Series grew from the concept that we all have people in our lives that have tremendous impact and influence. The challenge in life is that eventually each of these mentors or giants as I call them move on or pass on. Often this happens as a sudden change which can disorient and disrupt our lives. Such events can be a challenge at any age but particularly with young people. The Giants series addresses these very real challenges in a fictional allegory using normal size people and giants. The tale is set in an ancient land fraught with adventure and danger. It is very satisfying to hear from all my fans but especially you young fans when they find the story not only exciting but also uplifting and meaningful in helping them deal with life-challenges and become something more than they otherwise would have been.
