My most recent book is "The Illustrated Hen." For some reason (I don't remember exactly why) I was thinking about Poe's "Imp of the Perverse", and it occurred to me I could create a character that exemplified that particular idea, only in a whimsical way. A "satirical imp of the perverse." And the novel developed from that point on.

I just sit down and write. But I also have a plan for what I'm going to write. Sometimes it's a bullet point list or some other kind of enumerated list, or sometimes a couple of lines with ideas, or milestones I'm trying to get to.
