Hi! I read "The Tender Bar" by J.R. Moehringer and "Home to Harlem" by Claude McKay. I also listened to quite a few books, including "The Feral Detective" by Jonathan Lethem and "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith.

I know they weren't actually a "couple" but I really like the chemistry between Jake and Brett in "The Sun Also Rises." In fact, their inability to not be together - despite their strong emotions for each other - is what makes their relationship so pure.
