Rachael Adam I dunno, probably escapism. :D
Rachael Adam Don't worry about what is popular or not or about the writing 'rules' which change every so often. Read as much as possible and write the sort of book that you would like to read if you saw it in a book shop. :D
Rachael Adam Probably by reading or by looking at stories in the news, or by things that have happened to me. SDT was inspired by real life conservative politicians who are obsessed with bullfighting. One of my current works in progress is inspired by a job I have had. It is a thriller set in the world of marketing and sales. :D
Rachael Adam The author saw a one star review on Goodreads. Instantly they knew - that person had to die. (This is obviously fiction and the plot of a story - don't worry).
Rachael Adam The Farm by Tom Rob Smith. I already started reading it and it is quite gripping. I am also tackling some books on my shelves that I got ages ago and didn't read.
Rachael Adam I am working on a whodunit with some of the same characters as SDT. However the plot is completely different. It is about a true crime podcaster who gets murdered at a crime convention. All of the suspects have a motive for murder.
Rachael Adam I got the idea for the book from research I did about politicians who support bullfighting. It felt cathartic to write the book and depict Pepelito as a hero. I also got very frustrated by the fact that most bullfighting stories depict this activity in a romanticised way and the bull's perspective is not included. So I wanted to write a book that was based on facts and shows the bull in a sympathetic light.
