G.F. Smith I always attempt to present content that in some way helps others ponder the strangeness and mystery of life; how we change it, and how it changes us. Thinking along those lines, one day I asked myself, what is current, what is a topic, thing, or meme that is on the verge of changing society—changing us—and the way we live with each other, and with ourselves. Ding! I don’t think I got the idea…I think it kind of got me, sort of.
G.F. Smith I have developed a method of storyboarding that I use to write my novels. Left to right are chapters, vertical are the characters. I do not outline 100% and follow a ridged path, but I do try to write chapter synopses and just jot them down as they come to me. Of course, I rewrite each summary many, many times. However, it gives me sparks to ponder as I write and somewhere to go to jot down the elements that support what I may be writing in a particular chapter. When I have not written for a while, I skim-read the chapters in sequence and it sparks my memory, and helps generate more content that is new and fresh. Soon, I have a whole structure that I can go in and remodel, as it were. When I found this way, I said to myself…WOW!
G.F. Smith Smartbrain book release, and the next installment to the Penchant Series.
G.F. Smith Everyone says, “Write what you know; write about the things that are your passion.” That is good advice, but I have come to learn that many do not want to hear it, or read it. But, if you can weave those things gently into a package that others can relate to, then they are more apt to listen for awhile. You get your point out, and the Reader gets their satisfaction as well. It is like the old saying, “location, location, location.” You might have the best burgers in the world, but if they are served with only a view of the landfill, you may not get many to experience them. However, if you serve them within a pleasant atmosphere, you both end up happy and fulfilled. What you say, is almost as important as how you say it, and where you say it. Ask any successful writer, or diplomat.
G.F. Smith Helping others think about something that they’ve never thought of before. Especially if it inspires them to believe that they can do something that they never believed they could, before.
G.F. Smith Deep breaths…squinting…review of what I’ve already written…coffee and chocolate…quiet…being in my writing streamplace. Quite often, dogged determination until it starts to flow.
