A positive mental health aid appeared in The Irish Field suggesting we feel better if we take time to truly appreciate the most taken for granted aspects of our lives. We should stop for a moment and consider why we enjoyed that piece of cake or meal or that view/piece of music. We should mentally note every detail. As a writer, do you do this naturally and is this why writing is considered so therapeutic?
Caroline E. Farrell Yes and yes. Life moves so fast these days, it's important to take a moment to savour the little - and big - things. I also find that taking a photo of something that relates to the experience helps to make a memory that we can return to again and again, either for inspiration or simply to remind ourselves of the good stuff.

I recently finished reading The Fault In Our Stars and the plot centred on two people needing to know what happened after their favourite book ended and trying to find out from the author! If you were that author (of a stand-alone book, not a series!) would you be able to answer their question? And, as a reader, would you ever want to ask?
Caroline E. Farrell I've often wondered what happened to characters after I've finished a book, but I wouldn't put an author on the spot as I think it's nice to leave it to the reader's imagination. And as an author, it's nice to dream up different scenarios for my characters long after I've written 'the end'.

The characters in Lady Beth contune to haunt me, as a reader, long after the story finished, so I have to ask - are they haunting you, and will there be a follow-up book?

They do indeed haunt me! I think that all writers will agree that when you go on a journey with your characters, it is hard to let go of them. I reckon there is a follow up to LADY BETH, but it's quietly percolating away while I work on other projects, so might not be for a while yet!

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Caroline E. Farrell Make time to do it, all you need to begin is a notebook and pen. Get your ideas down and keep going, practice, practice, practice until you find your voice. And never be shy about calling yourself a writer. It you write, you are a writer.

What are you currently working on?
Caroline E. Farrell To be honest, and as is the method of my madness, I am juggling more than one project at the moment. One short film, which I will direct later this year, and another novel idea...watch this space!

How do you get inspired to write?
Caroline E. Farrell Life inspires me to write. I have always had a vivid, and somewhat strange imagination, so writing is the most logical [salute to Leonard Nimoy RIP] way for me to express it.
