Jenny Setchell Aha!! That would be telling! No seriously, I am working on something very different. Very specific and a lot of fun to research. Should take another year to complete. AT least - I'm having too much fun to finish t.
Jenny Setchell "Organs and Organists: Their Inside Stories" came as a result of many talks I have given to non-musical groups such as Probus and U3A. When suggesting a talk looking behind the scenes of the life of a concert organist, I found people were polite but hardly enthused. That is a challenge. So my job was to make the audiences want to become organists by the end of my talk (and slide show). Plus, the level of ignorance about organs and organists as my husband and I tour the world giving concerts (him, not me!) absolutely astounds me - especially as the ignorance lies with those who should know better. I was determined to somehow put a book in place which would delight, amuse, educate and convert the "great unwashed" as well as being a volume which would be a treasure for professional organists as well with photos that would stand out. Besides, it makes a great doorstop.
Jenny Setchell I can't help it. I've always written as a response to life, even as a child. It's a kind of commentary on what my environment is doing and how I cope with it, even as an observer. Occasionally I stumble across an idea that refuses to leave, and demands to be written about.
Jenny Setchell I try to get up at 5am every day and have time to collect my thoughts and there is nothing to disturb me - phone calls, jobs around the house, friends, husband etc. If I get stuck on what to do next, I swap projects and move briefly to something else such as a layout problem with another book, or tidying up files on the computer. It's strange, but the act of filing and cataloguing somehow recharges my thinking and often I can move on from there.
