Susan Shepherd I've never looked for ideas for a book. My books have always been thrashing around in my head, demanding to be written. For example, the Rah series began with a recurring dream I had as a teenager. I would wake up as I was drowning in mud in a burial mound, clinging to the woman who would become Ting Ya. I knew I was on Crete, I knew there had been a great wave, and I knew I was dying.
