Is 'The Djinn Waits a Hundred Years' a little different from 'The Lost Love of Akbar Manzil' with any additional short stories, glossaries or are they the same? 😅

Shubnum Khan The Djinn Waits a Hundred Years and The Lost Love of Akbar Manzil are the same novel. Djinn is the international title and Lost Love is the title in South Africa.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Shubnum Khan My new novel is very strange and very different from my first one and I would be lying if I said I really understood where I got the idea from. I wanted to explore what love means and the story sprung from that intention.

Do you think Durban can be a particularly interesting place to read about for people not from Durban?

Shubnum Khan Yes! Well beside the fact that I think any place can be interesting if you write well enough about it, I think Durban has so many quirks and interesting landscapes and people. It’s such a melting pot of cultures, there’s the sea, the sand, inland there’s the sugar cane valleys and further in there’s mountains. I think more people really need to write about Durban and I think other people would love reading about it.
