In the end, no one really matters. Not even you.

I'd probably go to an "afterlife" setting where we still have a purpose, stuff to do, and the ability to go anywhere and manifest anything with just our thoughts, but don't have the boundaries of physical bodies or have to deal with pain, physical ailments, sickness, etc! Worlds like those of the Riley Bloom series by Alyson Noel or The Memory Chronicles series by Lenore Appelhans.

Hello! Not sure if you asked the wrong author this question or not lol, since I am not Mr. McDonald, but I'll answer anyhow, just in case it was meant for me :) Anyhow, the way that I come up with ideas for children's books varies, but the main inspiration is typically experiences I have in my own life or people/animals that I have known. Many of my children's books have been inspired by the personalities of the pets I have had or even the children my husband and I fostered in the past, or the kids I worked with when I used to work in the elementary school system. I very much draw my inspiration from real life and the people/things I care deeply about. I am especially inspired by funny, weird, or silly experiences!

Does Edgar Allan Poe and Annabel Lee count? If not, I guess maybe Severus Snape and Lily, although I think she was a complete fool to pick Potter over Severus! Mainly that is because I would like to be with Snape though, so just jealousy lol.

Hi! Sorry, I am just now seeing this! Feel free to check out my "review policy" for the book reviews I currently do - http://marandarussell.com/vlog-reviews/. As stated, most of the book reviews I do right now are for my vlog, although I am also willing to rate and write a short review on Goodreads & Amazon for books sent to me by the author.

I'm sending out submissions of a picture book I have written (I'm actually looking to see if I can find an agent). As for writing, I am putting together an adult book of spiritual writings and a middle grade book of funny, silly and weird poems and stories.

I know just about every author says this, but read, read, read! Especially read books in the genre you want to write. Both bad books and good books can be good learning experiences. Reading good books shows you how to do it right...reading bad books shows you what mistakes to avoid. If you are planning to publish your writing, make revision your best friend. A great story can be ruined by lack of editing.

The best thing about being a writer is when readers truly connect with something you have written and say that it affected them deeply. Other great things about being a writer include working at home in your pj's and creating your own worlds with words.

I just focus on doing other things for a little while until inspiration strikes again or I work out whatever plot problem I am stuck on. I find that good ideas often strike while I am taking a shower, exercising or even taking a nap.

The #1 thing that inspires me is reading great works by others! The next most inspirational thing is when I see that my writing truly touches people and makes them think.

From real life! That is where I get many of my ideas. A person, place or event will give me an idea and I run with it.
