RYCJ First to note: I avoid sharing my thoughts on books I haven't finished, due to the HIGH number of times I've had not so great thoughts about books I started but couldn't finish, all to find out (at a later date after reading the book completely) the story was the greatest thing since sliced bread! Therefore and henceforth; Any book I read from beginning to end, I'll review... or share my thoughts.
RYCJ Everyday living inspires the stories I write, however the stories that typically make it to completion are those that are fun to write.
RYCJ This summer I plan to read...
Lolita by Nabokov, Letterman by Zinoman, Pain Don't Hurt by the FightShark, Be Sweet by Blount, In My (Jimmy Choo) Shoes by Mellon, Ghandi, Crazy Rich by Oppenheimer, Blues for All by Nikki Giovanni, and Harry Potter... the Sorcerer's Stone... by Rowling.
RYCJ So far this hasn't been an issue for me, although I will concede that each book I've written has yielded a different experience. Years of journaling may have helped on this one.
RYCJ Like it's been said before, the best thing about being a writer is writers get to travel everywhere, anytime...primarily vicariously of course.
RYCJ To write, write, write. To be in love with storytelling. Aspire to be the owner of your story by avoiding critiques, particularly for fiction/novel writers. No matter how well intended advice on your writing may be, you own your work when it's solely your voice. Don't fret too much about critics. They will be around to critique you and your original critics long after the first round told you to do it this or that way.
RYCJ I'm sometimes reluctant to share this for fear of appearing too spatial; I have 9 WIPs coming out. I've recently written a corporate fiction, erotic fiction, Young Adult (YA), spiritual, short story collection, poetry collection, and working on a horror, science fiction, and fantasy...each, save for three, are approximately 300 pages. Two are over 50K and one, the poetry collection, under 50K.
RYCJ I get inspired to write through observing the world around me. Be it plants, animals, our atmosphere, space, history or people, espying on these daily influences inspires me.
RYCJ The idea for my latest book, Lock Box, was the result of musing on after-life in an extraterrestrial sense.
