S.L. Smith I love St. Paul, Minnesota, the setting for my books. If you live in St. Paul, you look upon the State Fair as an annual excursion or an annual evil. Where you live in St. Paul probably affects your assessment. How could I be a residnet of St. Paul and ignore the fair?
S.L. Smith I'm currently working on book four in the Pete Culnane series. Don't yet have a title. That's giving me a little trouble. The crime occurs just before midnight on New Year's Eve. Thought about Auld Lang Stiff, Dead Lang Syne, and a few other things. I'm hoping for some inspiration.
S.L. Smith Just do it! Put your butt on that chair and start writing. Also, don't go back and look at it until you've finished the first draft. If you do, you may never get past the first chapter--or the first page.
S.L. Smith I'd have to say the fist draft. I'm a pantser. I don't work from an outline. Once my fingers connect with the keyboard, the ideas begin to flow. There are times I can't hang it up for the day. I want to know what's going to happen. Often, I'm surprised by what does happen, including who is the culprit.
S.L. Smith I'm an exercise nut. When I'm in the throes of writer's block, I work out on my Norick Track ski machine, go for a walk, or do something else temporarily takes me away from the problem. It's amazing how many answers I've found this way.
