Just keep writing. And don't be afraid to throw away an hour's work or a day's work if it isn't what you wanted . . .but NOT writing is paralyzing.

Job freedom! I've been working at home since long before COVID forced it on many people. Even when I worked for national magazines, I worked at home. I always have liked that.

Write! Most people I've met who say they want to be a writer aren't writing anything. Doesn't matter what you want to write, doesn't matter if you can't get a handle on that, just write something: letters to your kids, describe something you saw today that was interesting, think about how your spouse or a child or a friend looks, and write a description. Writing is like exercise . . .if you don't do it you can't do it!

Ha! I have one book that has been in process for 30 years. A business partner and I started working on it, then business got in the way. In 2021 we decided to finally finish it. "Legend of the Jerawoc" is at the publisher now and should be available by year's end 2022. In the mean time we are finishing joint venture tentatively titled "Bomber Run," a light adventure novel, almost finished. Together we have another half a dozen novels in the works. Stay tuned!

I would have to credit my first English teacher in college in 1962. He read my first assignment aloud to the class, praised me for it, and forced me to write a lot of stuff for his class. I went from there to radio and TV news, then to magazines, technical books . . .then when I retired I decided I wanted to write fiction. So here we are . . .

I'd have to call that an 'evolution,' of sorts. I was a technical writer and magazine reporter for years. As I traveled I often wrote short pieces for myself I called 'snapshots.' They were poetry or short paragraphs describing a scene or people I saw or met. For the most recent book -- The Courier and Other Tall Tales -- I brought out the snapshots and wrote a complete short story around some of them. This book is ten short stories, based mostly on a quick snapshot from maybe 30 years ago. It was fun!
