Do you plan to keep writing for young people? We just finished reading Root Magic with our 10-year-old son, and can't wait to see more from you.

So delighted to hear your son enjoyed ROOT MAGIC! I hope you've seen that I have published another kid's novel, CONJURE ISLAND last year and in five days, I'll be publishing another one: THE CREEPENING OF DOGWOOD HOUSE!

What are you currently working on?
Eden Royce I've been asked to write for a horror film anthology, titled 7 Magpies. It's the first of its kind: a horror film anthology written and directed by black women.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Eden Royce Read! Read everything you can. In and out of the genre you write.

Never give up. Get angry or get frustrated, but never give up.

Find the support you need--whether it's an editor, a critique partner, an honest Beta reader, or a friend who will kick you in the butt.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Eden Royce I find that having a small success with something, even if it isn't related to writing helps me immensely. For me, that's cooking or baking, which I call "kitchening" because I don't always want to type both cooking and/or baking.
