LoRee Peery I have too many books on my Kindle to count. My print book stack is weighty. At the top is Tosca Lee. I'll reread Progeny and go on to Firstborn.
LoRee Peery My editor is looking over my first time travel. The idea came from a barn on an acreage my brother used to rent. My heroine falls through a trapdoor and wakes up to a cowboy in 1890.
LoRee Peery Inspiration, as in ideas, are all around if we're open to them. I believe all writers have dry spells. Sometimes we do need to take a break and fill up the well, so to speak. I take notes and gather them in journals as well as a computer doc. Going through my ideas notebook to begin brainstorming a new project is always a fun, fun part of my process.
LoRee Peery An author always has projects in various stages. Right now, April 2017, I'm polishing the synopsis to submit a novella for Pelican Book Group's Christmas Extravaganza. I also have two time travels to tweak. Following that I'll get back to a story where an older heroine finds true love, a love that has been near her for a long time but her eyes weren't open.
LoRee Peery Read. Everything that draws you and every day. Learn. Attend conferences, listen to other writers, take classes, join groups. And write. Every day. Try a combination of pen/paper and keyboard. Writing is active, it engages our minds and our hands, our eyes and all senses. (Chocolate helps for the tasting part.)
LoRee Peery I love this question. The best thing about being a writer is doing what I believe I've been called to do. I pray first, then whatever happens is in God's hands...what I write and who reads it. Life is an adventure, and I love living scenes through someone made up.
LoRee Peery There are times I know I'm supposed to be doing something else, such as take a walk, spend time with a friend or family member, read nonfiction Christian book. The days I need to get words on the page, I've been known to type, "I don't know what to write." Or, I ask myself if I am a particular character, where would I be at this moment? Often, just the action of fingers on the keyboard creates writing.
LoRee Peery That would be a mystery from 1975. Who killed my father? And it is the plot for Touches of Time. I solved the case fictitiously, and by doing so, put the unrest out of my mind.
