Last Chance Hero is the last book I finished. It will be published in June 2015. It's part of a continuing series and the hero and heroine are characters that have appeared in other series books. So I knew I needed to write a story about the town fire chief and the woman who owns the local antiques store. So I started with the hero and heroine and they sort of told me their story. The Last Chance series was inspired by the small South Carolina town where I spent my summer vacations.

Well, to be utterly honest, the biggest inspiration is my editor's deadline. When you have book deadlines you have to write whether you're feeling inspired or not. If I get blocked or have a story problem, I'll listen to music, take a walk, or brainstorm with a writer friend.

I'm working on a Christmas novella. There's a character in this story who is on the Asperger's spectrum, so I've been doing a lot of research, talking to the parents of special needs children. I've been so inspired by these parents and their kids.

Read, read, read and then read some more. And then write. A lot. Every day. You won't finish a book unless you invest the time. And you won't understand books unless you read a lot of them.

Making up stories about interesting people. I love stories. I love reading them and I love making them up.

I listen to music. I have a playlist for every book that has a lot of inspirational songs. I can usually find a way through the block by strapping on the headphones and just letting my mind drift with the music.
