David Kerr I stood beside a friend at the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. He told me of the first time he visited the Wall when he was a child. His father was a survivor of Auschwitz and his first time at the Wall. My friend said, "My father wanted to go and touch the Wall and pray but stood riveted to the spot. His body shook with emotion and a single tear ran down his cheek, I'd never seen my father cry and was concerned, I said, 'Why are you crying Papa?' He never answered and I was too embarrassed to ask him again. It was later in life when he told me the terrible truth behind that tear."
When I heard his story - my book was born.
