The idea for Our Kept Hearts came from my hometown, Waldron, Arkansas. It's a small town, and the people are loving and kind. Growing up there was basically my inspiration.

Currently, I'm working on the second book of the series, Our Scorched Hearts. Hazel, Ruthie, and Joel have to face a lot of changes and new dilemmas caused by the Vietnam War.

Well, I still actually feel like an aspiring writer, so I'm not really sure I'm the one to give any advice. But if I could give one suggestion to any new writer it would be, don't ever give up. Just keep writing.
