How do you get inspired to write?
Ruth Yunker I'm inspired to write everyday, by all kinds of things. The trick is to get passed the simple inspiration to write, and actually sit down and write. Takes practice! And discipline.

What are you currently working on?
Ruth Yunker Something that I started before the pandemic, then morphed into something else during the pandemic...slow going, at the moment.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Ruth Yunker Start by having fun with words. What are your favorites? Then create nonsensical sentences. Make lists. make them creative.
When you start an actual project, start in the middle.
And above all, don't strive for perfection. This will only stop you in your tracks.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Ruth Yunker Truthfully? Being able to work from home, in my pajamas, eating macadamia nut cookies. And...setting my own schedule.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Ruth Yunker Joseph Campbell says there is no such thing as writer's block. I believe him.
Just write. It doesn't have to be "good"!

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Ruth Yunker Gormenghast I would explore that immense, dark and crumbling world filled with mystical ritual and gone to seed glory.
