Miranda Rijks Hi Ellie,
Sorry I missed your question! I'm a full time author and I do detailed plots for all my books before I start writing. Also I type as fast as I think which helps speed things up. I love writing so it doesn't feel like a job!
Best wishes,
Miranda
Miranda Rijks I've always written and am the author of two non-fiction books. I only turned to writing fiction after I recovered from bone cancer. I wrote a novel inspired by my experiences called Don't Call Me Brave and then wrote a couple of psychological thrillers, just because they're the books I most enjoy writing. I got signed by my current publishers and in the past two and a half years, they've published eleven of my psychological thrillers. It's always been my dream to be a full time writer and now that's come true!
Miranda Rijks I ask my characters lots of questions. If they don’t answer me, I walk (or in my case often hobble) the dog.
Miranda Rijks Anything goes! A writer has such freedom. Creating imaginary worlds and having other people explore and enjoy them, is a great privilege.

Being a writer has always been my dream job and now that I can write full-time, I feel very blessed.
Miranda Rijks Get a coach or a mentor. It’s fabulous being a writer but everyone needs to bounce ideas and have support.
And read. Loads and loads!
Miranda Rijks I’ve just finished writing a psychological thriller and am about to start writing a thriller series.
Miranda Rijks Plots ideas tend to burst into my head first and then I get to know my characters. I’m inspired by current affairs, little snippets of overheard conversation and by bouncing ideas off my family and my book coach.
Miranda Rijks I was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2015. I was drawn to books about cancer and was surprised there are so few novels about it, so when I was better, I put pen to paper...

Gemma isn’t me and Tom bears no resemblance to my husband! Writing this book was both difficult and cathartic.
