T.R. Braxton I got the idea for my recent book from letting my fevered imagination run wild. I strongly recommend that every one who prides himself or herself on being a creative person find time to do that, as often as possible.
T.R. Braxton I got inspired to write from praise I received for my work in a creative writing class at my University. My professor often told me that I had a way with words and a real talent for writing. Prior to that esteemed educator's insight, I intended to become a visual artist.
T.R. Braxton I am currently working on the Wraith, a novel which examines the topical theme of teenage bullying within a chilling ghost story.
T.R. Braxton My advice for aspiring writers is (to quote a popular song from the '70s) to "do it, do it, do it 'til you're satisfied". Don't let anything stop you from writing if you really feel it in your soul. Also, don't write for money. Strive to make money as a writer, but realize that any money you earn in this punishing pursuit is gravy. Real writers don't write for money. Real writers write because they have a story (or stories) that they can't bear not to share with the largest audience they can find.
T.R. Braxton The best thing about being a writer is letting my imagination run wild, bringing to life characters and stories that have not previously existed. When I write a story, I create my own world. That is an awesome feeling!
T.R. Braxton I deal with "writer's block" by sitting my but down until I have written something. I believe that writer's block is a myth. Going long periods of time without writing anything worthwhile is usually the result of being too distracted by everyday life to carve out time to write. Finding that writing time can be difficult to do, especially for writers in my boat of still working a full-time and having an involved family life.
