John R. Schembra My book ideas come from snippets of things I hear, like news stories, tv programs, radio, etc, or things I read in the newspaper, or other books. My next book, ( I will soon begin writing it) came from a post on Facebook. It was a historical piece about San Francisco underground tunnels. It interested me, and since most of my books take place in S.F., I will use the info in my next murder/thriller.
John R. Schembra Just write and don't worry about whether it is technically correct- that's what editing is for. Any problems or mistakes can be corrected easily.
John R. Schembra I set the book aside for a week or two, or three, and try not to think about it. Then when I am ready, I re-visit it, usually by rereading the last 3 chapters. Usually I can break the block then. If not, I start the process again until it does break.
