One day, my husband and I were walking in the woods. We came across five dead hawks. They were not shot or attacked in any way. They just lie dead under a maple tree. We never did discover what happened to them, but it would make a great lead-in for a book, "Death by Living."

Skye Taylor and Khalen Dunning in Protected. They tell the story of how my husband and I met and they depict a side of us that few people have ever seen.

I go for a long hike with my dog and think things through. Often times, I toss the character who is giving me a hard time into a situation I'm sure he will find unbearable and then wait and watch as he desperately tries to mull his way out of it. Typically, by the time I return home, my characters has gone through an attitude adjustment and we can continue on with his story without further mishap.

Freedom to work wherever I choose. The ability to live vicariously through the adventures of my characters. Releasing my inner ambitions in an avenue that provides harmless entertainment. Working in my pajamas. Sipping a cold brew out doors on a warm and sunny day while I plan the demise of my villain. Talking out my next story with my husband on a warm summer night as we enjoy a bottle of fine red wine. Hearing from my fans. Observing the success of each of my stories. I love being a writer.

Write what you enjoy and do so from your heart. Writing is a skill that is perfected over time. Do not expect your first story to be your best. Listen to other professional writers. My most exciting novel to date. I'm writing about how the Spirians came to be. Why they are here and how they have transformed from what they used to be to what they are today. Those of you who have grown to love Shanuk as much as I have will really appreciate this story. It tells about his youth and how he fell in love with, Calla, a remarkable Spirifae who captured his heart forever. This book is due for release in November, 2014.

I am inspired by people and what they believe is the truth. This world is made up of many truths and many illusions. What we believe and feel becomes real. That fascinates me—it always has. I listen to people's stories and absorb their emotions. From that, a story is weaved.

Shifter was inspired by a young man I had encountered. He was very angry and felt cast away from his family. Through his pain and interpretations of what he believed was reality, Zebastian was born. He was the perfect fit for Kaili, one of Khalen and Skye's eldest daughters. Their story had to be told
