I was the kid who looked forward to the summer reading list. I loved books and I loved creating stories. My writing started with my Hello Kitty diary and continued from there! Also, my father was the storyteller in our family and his bedtime stories always had a spooky twist. My sister and I would huddle together, wide-eyed in anticipation as he told us about the haunted attic in his grandmother's east Texas home.

I got the idea from a newspaper article about a missing schoolteacher. Her car was believed to be in a bayou near New Orleans. When divers went into the bayou, they did indeed find her and her car but...they also found something else. The local sheriff said bayous make the best dumping grounds. That got me thinking!
