Do you have an illustration of the Vors and Tarts? I'm having a little trouble visualizing them as anything other than large red-eyed (or halo'd) humans.

Why did you choose to define the terrorists as Islamic Jihadists in Brain Web when there are also plenty of domestic terrorists in our country? It seems doing so just fans the flames of hate and anger.
Douglas E. Richards In that case wouldn't using domestic terrorists as the villians also be fanning the flames of anger? Someone has to be the bad guy, and there is a virulent form of Islam that has very much made it clear they would like to establish their form of Islam across the globe, no matter what it takes.

Hey Douglas not sure if you remember me but I use to run a site called furiousfanboys and I interviewed you during the release of Wired. We had a great chat about future technology and where it's headed. Took a little break from reading and just started your Nick Hall series. My question is, are you still in talks with a studio to bring one of your books to the big screen?
Douglas E. Richards Jason, I do remember. Yes, Kodiak Pictures is still trying to get this series made into movies, although it is a long process and may never happen. if you Google "mind's Eye Variety" you can read an article on it. I hope you enjoy the series. Doug

Douglas E. Richards Steve, I don't have plans currently, but I never know what I'll be writing next, and all of my novels have potential for expansion into series. So it's definitely possible. Let me know what you think of the Nick Hall books. Doug

Not so much a question but a wish i, I'd like to see more in the split second world... It was such a interesting story. I really appreciated the way you explained things in the story...so will there be more?

Greetings Mr Richards... I'm wondering if you plan to add anymore to the split second story line? I feel like its really not over for those characters...and I really enjoyed the books, the back to the future references really hit home for me.. Thanks so much for the great stories.
Douglas E. Richards Thanks for the kind words. I don't have plans for a third at the moment, but I just did a 4th in the Nick Hall series after many years, so you never know. (I'm never sure what project I'll decide to do next :) Thanks for asking.

Douglas E. Richards Thanks, Kat. Very kind of you. Actually, my last novel was called The Breakthrough Effect (I don't love this title, but it's too late now :). I just finished the fourth book in the Nick Hall serires calld Unleashed. It is available for pre-ordering and will be published May 9.

Greatly enjoyed Portals! Is a follow up on the way? Great characters and I loved the addiction aspect(s).
Douglas E. Richards Thanks, Greg. No follow up planned at the moment, but it's definitely a possibility at some point in the future. I just finished Nick Hall book 4 after 7 years. Hopefully, it won't take that long to do a Portals sequel :)

Omission in Author's Discussion of "The Breakthrough Effect". Hi, I was wondering why you left out the connection between the Del Coronado Hotel and the Wizard Of OZ? You did at one point allude to Oliver Scott as The Wizard of Arcadia. I appreciate how your novels highlight so many thorny issues in the headlines today, So very thought provoking! This is why I have been an avid sci-fi reader all my life.
Douglas E. Richards Henry, thanks for the kind words and support. I had no idea there was any connection between the hotel and the Wizard of Oz. But once I looked it up, it is quite a cool revelation. I can't wait to tell my wife. Thanks for pointing me in this direction. Frank Baum even designed a chandelier there, apparently.

I have both a question and a statement; it is refreshing to have a sci-fi author who goes to amazing lengths to understand his subject matter. Discussing the scientific, moral, and ethical questions often discussed by characters in your books has filled many evenings for my teen children and myself. My question is, do you have any podcasts/YouTube videos explaining your research/writing process?
Douglas E. Richards Luke, thanks! I really appreciate that. I really don't remember what I said on various podcasts, but Writers of the Future does speak to my latest novel, Unidentified, and goes into my research for this novel.
