Ruby Fox It's a mystery I get anything done with my nose always stuck in a book.

Ruby Fox Narnia. Of course.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Ruby Fox I read. I can't write if I'm not reading, something about the exchange of energy. I also stay really active, I run and love hot yoga, walking in nature. Space to let my brain 'breathe'.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Ruby Fox I get to make up stories all day long. Then I get to see other people get lost in them.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Ruby Fox Keep going. Trust your gut. Write what you love - forget about the potential publishing outcome.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Ruby Fox I started writing Dead Famous because one of the best jobs I’ve ever had was writing celebrity news for a gossip magazine, and everybody says—write what you know. My obsession with Hollywood goes back to the early 80s, to Sunday afternoons with my Nan, watching old movies on TV. I spent years dreaming about being a movie star, a pop star, a literary star, any kind of star really. Well… almost any kind. Whether it’s film and television, music, or writing—the world of artists makes sense to me. So that’s where a lot of my stories live.

How do you get inspired to write?
Ruby Fox Inspiration is everywhere, in conversations, other things I read, the news of the world, unanswered questions. My brain is constantly ticking over with story ideas. Usually if I wonder 'what if' ... there's a story there.

What are you currently working on?
Ruby Fox I'm currently half way through the first draft of Book 2 in the Kat Alley Mystery Series - 'Dead Perfect', set in the exciting world of rock music.
