I experienced VTS in my pregnancy and discovered that very little had been documented about it. Since then, there have been more stories, which seemed only to throw up more questions instead of answers (see my essay in TIME: https://time.com/6589113/vanishing-tw...)
I wanted the ending to reflect the mystery surrounding this condition and the fact that not everything can be explained by science.
