If I could travel to any fictional world, I'd like to go to Terry Pratchett's Discworld. I would love to meet all of the delightful characters that Sir Terry created, including Death, check out the newly renovated Post Office, visit Lady Sybil's dragon sanctuary, and of course, tour the Library.

The Lost Book of the Grail by Charlie Lovett, Beethoven's Skull by Tim Rayborn, Borne by Jeff Vandermeer, Edited Out by E.J. Copperman, John Ronald's Dragons by Caroline McAlister, plus I always re-read my favorites, Going Postal by Terry Pratchett, Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde, and any of the Foreigner books by C.J. Cherryh.

This mystery would be slightly paranormal. All my life, I've been what I called "music psychic." Out of nowhere, I'll think of a song. Not a current song that you'd be likely to hear, but an odd song, like "Blue Skies," or the Beatles' "Get Back." Later that day, or the next day, I'll hear that song in an equally odd place, like Pizza Hut. It's happened so many times, it's a mystery to me. Maybe someone is trying to send me a message -- or maybe I'm just in tune with the universe!

I read a lot of fantasy and science fiction, and my favorite couple is Bren Cameron and Jago of C.J. Cherryh's Foreigner series. I love contrast between characters. Bren is a blond, blue-eyed white Earthman, who is the translator for the ruler of the ateve people. Jago is a very tall, black, golden-eyed ateva and is Bren's bodyguard. She's taller, stronger, and doesn't say very much. I really like the role reversal! Their relationship continues to progress throughout the series.

I live in a small town in North Carolina. You wouldn't think much would be going on, but whenever a new business opens, it's a big deal, and people always take sides as to whether or not the new thing is a good thing. I thought, what if someone wants to open an art gallery? Since my PI is an artist, she would be called upon to help. That's the idea that got me started on A Bad Reputation, the latest Madeline Maclin Mystery.

There are so many things in life that you can't control, but you when you're a writer, you can control everything about your imaginary world -- what your characters look like, what they say, what happens to them. It makes living in the real world a little easier!
