Gary Baysinger The idea for my novella came from the movie "Oh What a Lovely War". There was a scene in the movie depicting the Christmas truce of 1914 where the British and German soldiers came out of their trenches and met in the middle to take the day off from fighting. One of the German soldiers told the British that he lived in England before the war and left behind a girl. I wanted to know more about the relationship between this young German man and this English girl. I made up a story about their relationship.
