Michele Venne Falafen, the pandemic that mercilessly decimated nearly every organism on earth, had left two beating hearts, mine and patient zero. At the sound, I turned and held up my phone to snap a picture of whatever still breathed, and recorded the only evidence of absolute death that no one will ever see.
Michele Venne It would definitely be a fantasy or paranormal world! I would want to make friends with someone who had powerful magic so they could protect me, a mere human. Then I'd see about meeting as many fascinating beings as possible. This, of course, would involve adventure. I would have so many wonderful stories to tell when I got home!
Michele Venne I'm lucky enough to spend time at an indie bookstore close to home. I have a stack of paperbacks, mostly paranormal romance, of all new authors! I'm looking forward to finding new writers that I enjoy. Added to that, I have several craft and marketing books in the stack next to those paperbacks. I'll be splitting my time between fiction and studying the industry.
Michele Venne Hi Nicole! Glad you enjoyed Book One of the Tanner Trilogy. I aimed for Dec. for Book 3, but it looks like it will be in the new year. When I get it in print (and Kindle), I'll post it here on Goodreads.
Michele Venne Hi Nicole! I'm so glad you enjoyed, Of Dolphins and Desires, as I had a great time writing it. At this time, I have no plans to let David have his own story. I've had this request of Malcolm in, Of Gifts and the Goddess. Perhaps I should rethink giving them each a novella! Thanks for the suggestion.
Michele Venne There are a lot of "best" things about being a writer. What a writer creates is unique and wouldn't exist without them. Half the writer's life, or more, is lived in another place and time, with their characters. It brings clarity about life when a writer writes. There's often a sense of joy, of rightness, during the process, and it's addictive.
Michele Venne My ideas come in a flash on the movie screen in my head. I record them as quickly and thoroughly as I can, but I know I still miss details and parts of conversations between characters. I think every writer will always have more ideas than time to record them.
Michele Venne Life inspires me. All the myriad emotions that are involved in the human condition make me pick up my pen and attempt to capture all the sensations in that moment. Besides life, practice. Writing every day so the pump remains primed, the creative muscles don't go soft, and so my ego can have that tinge of sense of satisfaction from being productive.
Michele Venne Some writers work on one project at a time. Others switch between ongoing projects, depending on inspiration or deadlines. I'm working on a short story anthology and a novel. I also aspire to write a poem every day. Sometimes, journaling greases the wheels.
Michele Venne Write! The only way to get better at anything is to do a lot of it. Write when you feel like it, write when you don't. Set a word count, and do it every day, so it becomes a habit. Perhaps some of the stuff won't be worth reading, and that's fine. Not everything a writer writes should be published. Read about the craft. Talk to other writers. Attend a conference or workshop. Join an organization. Take a class. But no matter what, WRITE!
Michele Venne I keep writing. I also break away and do something else, like work with watercolors or make a new recipe. Most of the time, writer's block is because of fear. My inner critic is there rattling off cruel comments. If I keep writing, I can usually bowl right over it. Occasionally, a writer might get blocked because there's something going on in their WIP that they're not sure how to solve. Doing something else besides writing, but something that's still creative, can give a solution.
