Hi Colin - I love all of your books. I started with Silk Road and was hooked! Wondering if there are any particular historical periods that interest you but you have not written yet?
Colin Falconer Thanks Steve. I have mainly written stories set in the classical, medieval and modern periods. I love shows like Vikings, Barbarians and The Last Kingdom but haven’t written about those periods myself yet. I would do if I found a story both gripping and unusual that hadn’t already been done. Cheers for the question!

I enjoy all the books, mainly because there is no "waste", every page moves the narrative along - there is no childhood backstories, no extended descriptions of scenery etc - just a storyline moving towards its denouement. What I wonder is - do you actually write every book yourself? How can you write so many books in such a short space of time, and all of them gripping thrillers with unique plots?
Colin Falconer Thanks for the question and for reading my books. Appreciate it. I do write all the books myself. It takes me a year to write each one. I generally spend six months on research, three on writing and three on editing.

I’ve been writing full time for over thirty years and have twenty-three books currently in print, (with probably another twenty out of print), so it’s quite a long time to be producing them. I’m glad it appears to be quick! Happy you’re enjoying them, cheers!

Yes! enjoyed Silk Road very much. Reading, "Aztec", now, which has changed my thinking. I had not read about this period before. I think you have covered most major history points except the Mongol invasion and Vikings? Just love your books. Few happy endings in history but you write great meat and potato books. If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Colin Falconer I wrote a book called Silk Road, about the journey from Damascus to ancient Shang-tu (known in the west as Xanadu) in the 13th century. I would like to take the journey my character, Josseran, made. It took him nine months, in the footsteps of Marco Polo. I think that would be the greatest adventure of them all.
