Ellie Royce Sometimes you think of a story and sometimes a story thinks of you.
"Auntie Uncle" was inspired by a conversation with my daughter about what sort of books she wanted to read to her kids one day, by the decency and kindness of a colleague with at least twelve nephews and nieces who cared for people all week and becomes a Drag Diva on weekends, and, I have to say, a moment from the movie "Priscilla Queen of the Desert!"
I look at life through a lens where love is love, and I feel so grateful to have been granted a position to tell a story that uplifts those who share this point of view.
“Auntie Uncle” is for everyone who needs the courage to be themselves, whoever that may be. You are seen. You are heard. You are precious.
Ellie Royce I quite often find that inspiration comes after a walk, especially on the beach. The walking is like a mediation ( I don't listen to anything, no podcasts or music) which seems to open up the channels of creativity and communication!
Ellie Royce Write. Write and write and write , and read and read and read. If you write enough, you'll find your own voice, which is so vital . Be prepared to write a lot of words that don't work , to find the ones that do!
Ellie Royce The best thing about being a writer is the time I spend in my imaginary worlds, the worlds of the stories that come to play with me. Anything can happen. And it usually does!
