Reece Hirsch The plots of my thrillers are drawn from some of the very scary issues that I encounter in my work as a privacy attorney, which involves everything from the most insidious malware to state-sponsored hackers. But the real inspiration for my writing is my readers. There's nothing I like better than hearing from a reader who just had to stay up late to finish one of my books.
Reece Hirsch Thanks, Sally! Glad you're enjoying the Chris Bruen series! My next book, which I'm just finishing now, is not a Chris and Zoey book, but I do plan to return to those characters at some point. They were so much fun to write, and I'm definitely not done with their story.
Reece Hirsch I'm a big fan of Don Winslow's "The Dawn Patrol," so I think I'd opt for breakfast at the Sundowner in Pacific Beach, California with surfer/sometimes PI Boone Daniels and his crew, including waitress Sunny, Bench Press and Dave the Love God. I'd order the eggs machaca. As Mr. Winslow notes, everything is better on a tortilla.
Reece Hirsch I'm really glad to hear that you've been enjoying the Chris Bruen books, Hayden! My fifth book, which I've just finished, once again deals with cybercrime and the dark side of the Internet, but it is not a Bruen book. Right now I'm not sure when I'm going to revisit Chris and Zoey, but I'm confident that I will at some point. I'm going to give them a little breather because I put them through a lot over the course of those three books!
Reece Hirsch I've spent the past year working on the third Chris Bruen book and just turned it in to my editor. It won't be out until 2016, but I think it's a wild one. Once again, it deals with some cutting-edge privacy and cybersecurity issues. Zoey's back, too, and she plays an even larger role in the next book. If you have any questions for me about Chris, Zoey or any of my books, I'll be here.
