I'm working with my brilliant editor, Kira Lerner, to edit my first series, The Gailean Quartet; the magic system in the series is all music-based. This is also a series where I also really focus on including diverse characters. There are a variety of fantasy races, as well as a couple characters with disabilities; in particular, there's a blind bard who's certain to be a favorite.

Always be learning, growing, and don't be afraid to just try and put something on paper; it can always be edited later. Connect with other authors and readers for support. Write what you love; if you're not passionate about it, neither will your readers be. And learn the value of a good outline!! Doesn't sound fun at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's the best way to organize all that creativity into something cohesive.

One of my biggest inspirations is people. While I always write within a fantasy world, my characters are almost always inspired by people in my real life, and they are the heart of inspiration for any story.

I pretty much write when I'm inspired to write. In between, I spend time reading, playing video games, watching movies, hiking, painting and anything else to keep my mind creatively inspired.

One of the projects I recently started is a series that for now I'm calling "A Tale of Beastly Beauty." It's about seven kingdoms that are warring with each other, and if they cannot return to peace, they will be transformed into beasts permanently. It's like "Beauty and the Beast," one of my favorite fairy tales, but on a much broader scale!
