Bill Combs The world is a dangerous place. There are a LOT of cliches and misconceptions. I am a political conservative but I'm all for women's rights. In "Athena Rising" after years of war and death, women take the reins. As often happens with drastic change, changes become too drastic. Ideologues usually are in power until strong, reasoned people take control again. In this book, a former female fighter pilot becomes POTUS and tries to make sense of things again while battling international terrorists and domestic enemies as well.
Bill Combs With me it's a bit strange. A plot hits me. I have the beginning, the main characters and the end. As I develop the characters leading to more characters and parallel subplots the story begins to write itself.
Bill Combs Try to think about nothing. Get away from it. The story and characters won't let you go.
Bill Combs I read a lot when I was young. Immersing myself in movies and books seemed like I could travel anywhere in location and time. Reading "Tale of Two Cities" sunk into my bones. A writer's perspective not so much to describe the nubbiness of a sweater but rather a person's thoughts, dilemmas and actions hooked me.
