I love the process of writing, even though I procrastinate like everyone else. Playing with ideas is something I enjoy. There is never a shortage of ideas to play with. Working with words and coming up with creative solutions is also a plus. I've also had the opportunity to stretch my writing ability in a variety of ways. I've written technical manuals, interactive training, websitemarketing copy, corporate communication, and ghostwriting. There is no shortage of fields for a writer who is willing to learn and try other things.

"Another Vanishing Act" was actually my father-in-law's idea. He's a bit of a rascal and he came up with the idea after moving into a senior's residence. He asked me to look at it because he liked my U.S. marshal's book. I saw the possibilities, came up with my own ideas while writing, and the two of us would conspire about the action. Learn everything you can and look for opportunities. I went to a marvelous journalism school (University of Missouri-Columbia) that required us to work on the daily newspaper. A great learning experience. I also worked part-time during the summer for a local weekly paper back home and later for the university's PR office on internal publications. Working side-by-side with pros can't be beat.
