Daryl K. Cobb It is part of the process and when it happens I set the work aside and come back to it another day. I will then reread it a few times and if nothing comes to me I will set it aside again and come go back to it later. I will keep doing this until that spark lights up.
Daryl K. Cobb For me it was the ability to be able to take my talents as a singer/songwriter/performer and storyteller and put together creative educational programming that allows me the opportunity to perform in front of student audiences day in and day out. Inspiring children to read and write is an amazing gift and I feel blessed to have educators seek me out for this.
Daryl K. Cobb My advice would be to not get discouraged. The business of creating art no matter what art form you choose can be tough and I have worked as an actor, musician as well as a writer. So believe in yourself because there are going to be a lot of people who will try and knock you down. So again, believe in yourself.
Daryl K. Cobb I am currently on my school visit tour which goes from September until June. I visit more than 70 schools a year with my creative arts-writing and reading programs so I have little time to write at the moment. But when June comes I will return to writing a new children's novel called Lying in Limbo. I was 50 pages into it when the school season started and just can't get back to it.
Daryl K. Cobb I started off as a singer/songwriter and when my kids were born I started writing them rhyming bedtime stories to put them to bed. So my kids became my inspiration.
Daryl K. Cobb Baseball, Bullies & Angels is realistic fiction and takes place during my elementary school years. The idea came to me one day during an elementary school visit. I was having lunch with a group of students doing a Q&A session when a student asked me how my childhood was. In the seven years that I have been visiting schools this was the first time this question had been asked and it got me thinking about the good times and the bad. Bullying was a part of my school life for nearly three years and a very painful time in my life and I wanted kids to know that it does end and it won't last forever.
