Tough question, especially for a reader whose primary getaways are thrillers, literary fiction, and horror.
The Dark Tower series is appealing because I would love to meet Roland Deschain, the Gunslinger. On the other hand, I don't care to run into many of those otherworldly threats he faced.
Hogwarts would be fun...could learn some spells and play quiditch.

On television, the answer is Chuck and Sarah, from the TV show Chuck. I thought the chemistry was authentic, and who doesn't appreciate it when the geek wins and gets the girl?
In movies, maybe Minnie Driver and John Cusack in Gross Pointe Blank. I thought they had a really fun and playful dynamic with each other.
In books, it's probably Cosette and Marius in Les Miserables!! The tragedy that they work through and the connection they have is so intense. The surrounding cast enhance the relationship, too.

Random conversations with people, the right music, and interesting situations in everyday life are probably my most common inspirations. But, I tell you what really juices me up, and that's getting the occasional email from readers letting me know they connected with one of my books.

It's the direct connection to my favorite pastime: reading. It's what I dreamed about doing, off and on, my entire life.
I would make some jokes about unlimited restroom breaks and not having a boss, but I also have a daytime job. One day though, I hope to make those jokes and mean it.

I've got a few methods for dealing with those moments when I get the out-of-office message from my imagination.
First, I use my wife as a sounding board for the situation. This usually oils up the cogs and gets things moving.
If that doesn't work, I try to skip ahead in the story, and work on a future, unrelated chapter.
Finally, if one and two fail, I switch to another story, and I work on it.

Write every day and read every day, even if it's just a little bit of each.
