Lewis, I have completed my first novel, set in the 9/10th Centuries Moorish Spain. Entitled "Still I hear the Songs of Cordoba", it is a saga of Moors, Jews and Christians set in the Khalifate of Abdul Rahman III. I am trying the self-publishing route with its many challenges!?! Any advice gratefully received.

Lewis M. Weinstein congratulations on your novel ... regarding self-publishing, I use Kindle Publishing (Amazon) and I think it is the quickest, easiest and least expensive option ... however, marketing your book is a whole different matter and I really have no advice to give on that aspect of the process ...

Lewis M. Weinstein 15th c Spain was the setting for my first novel, THE HERETIC, but I have not done any research in that area since then.

Have you had a chance to read Elizabeth George's latest book on writing - Mastering the Process? Her books really helped me to straighten out my process.

Lew - There is a line in this book that I would really like to know if you have a source for. At some point Medici's mother makes a comment about Vashti being sent into exile. Is this from a source or an idea of yours? It relates to a book idea that I had and a source would be excellent to find.

Is there a particular Hermann Goering biography that you could recommend that focuses more on his country estate Carinhall in the Schorfheide than the others? I'm asking, because my uncle lives near the Schorfheide and told me about Carinhall in 1987. But there's not much on the Internet when I google it. Thanks in advance!

Lewis M. Weinstein sorry, but I don't know anything about Carinhall ... Goering played a very minor role in my novels so I never did much research about him

Dear Dr. Weinstein, I am looking for books about Martin Bormann, especially about his work in the Nazi party in the Third Reich. But I don't find interesting titles that have good research. Could you recommend a book that talks about this topic?

Lewis M. Weinstein sorry but I did not include any research on Bormann ... however, there are 55 references to Bormann in Richard Evans, The Third Reich at War

I just got through reading a book you would like, unless you have already read it? The book is The House of Twenty Thousand Books by Sasha Abramsky. It is a memoir of his grandfather, Chimen Abramsky, who collected books and manuscripts mainly about Judaism and socialism. I learned much about Jewish history and life from it. Hi - Knowing your interest in WWII, and the Holocaust, have you read Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan? It's historical fiction, based on a true story, about a young Italian man who helped guide Italian Jews over the Alps to Switzerland. I'm about a 1/4 of the way through it. Best, Kathy

REGARDING: A FLOOD OF EVIL.........HI, Mr. Weinstein! Just FYI, Amazon should've given you a reason for your book banning, but it's illegal in Germany to printe ANY true history re Nazism. I know several people in Austria/Germany, & they complain that their history is being "rewritten" to delete it, & complain they haven't access to Nazi history. Sad, huh?

Lewis M. Weinstein I'm surprised to hear that, since I am aware of many histories of the Nazi era which are quite available in Germany. Germany has made, and continues to make, significant efforts to confront the horror of its Nazi past.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?

Lewis M. Weinstein In the sequel to A FLOOD OF EVIL, I am currently creating a version of what it was like to try to oppose Hitler in the mid to late 1930s, so I am "traveling" there through historical accounts and memoirs. It is my objective to take my readers there, to feel the danger and frustration through my characters. To be there myself would be incredible, but I would still look to the accounts of other people, since every situation was complex and chaotic, and no single account can possibly tell the whole story.

Hey Lew -- I see that you've read Chris Dodd's "Letters from Nuremburg." what are your thoughts about his not thinking that Jews should have been involved in the prosecution?

Lewis M. Weinstein I have not come close to completing my research on the Nuremberg Trials, and I have no conclusion on the point you raise. What do you think?

I've seen your comments on a lot of books related to WWII, and just wanted to give you recommendation to read David Irving's "Hitler's War". You seem like your deeply interested in that part of history, and if you still have the interest and the time to invest in a 900 page book, i highly recommend you read "Hitler's War". In my forty years of research i've concluded it to be the most important book on the subject.?

Lewis M. Weinstein Thanks for your recommendation. It's on my list. I am, however, still (in the sequel to A FLOOD OF EVIL) working on my characters' lives in 1937, so I have a ways to go to get to what Irving wrote about.
