I don't really know. I wake up in the morning ready to write. I work out what I am going to do while walking the dog. Then I do a crossword or play a game of scrabble to get the words moving around, then I sit and write for a couple of hours.

I think the setting is what hooked me. It is set in a fictional town in the late colonial period. I am always visiting one site or another in the area. So I took two characters from a short story, added to the setting, and the story just appeared.
