Stephen J. Sweeney I wanted to write a book with a strong female lead; most of the other books had featured men as the main POV so I wanted to do something different. I decided to set ALYSHA in the same world and time period as A NORTH-SOUTH DIVIDE.

I tend to describe ALYSHA as "Taken in reverse (the daughter saving the family) by way of LORD OF THE RINGS".
