Shane Windham I've decided to begin reading lots of other popular poets from my generation in an effort to see what I've missed. While there are certainly a handful I'm thoroughly enjoying (like Chloe Frayne, Riley Reede, etc.), the majority of what I'm finding is outside of my wheelhouse (IE: too short, title-free, vapid, one-note, grammatically troubling, and unoriginal).
Shane Windham I told you 130+ in a recent book I released called 'Panic Point: Rapid Tales of Terror for When the Lights Go Out'.
Shane Windham There's no such thing as writer's block; there are only people wordlessly wasting time on topics their heart isn't in.
Shane Windham Much as with any of the arts, you get a chance to have your vision exist in someone else's head, potentially long after you pass away. What sets writing apart, however, is that you get to go a little deeper than a song or painting can.
Shane Windham Write what you love, only listen to criticism that's constructive, and avoid the fads of copycats.
Shane Windham I'm working on my first novel, a cookbook, a collection of prose related to critical thinking, a follow-up to 'Table Games', and some new questionnaire journals. Having already published 15 new titles in 2019, I'm trying to focus primarily on larger projects.
Shane Windham I think the very act of existing offers endless amounts of inspiration. What's important is not that you feel inspired to write, but that you make it a point to write; otherwise very little writing ever gets done.
Shane Windham I reconnected with some old friends who'd stored lots of my lost, early works. I also had a tech savvy acquaintance unlock some long-encrypted documents I'd been unable to access for ages. These things prompted me to create my 10th poetry collection, 'The First Phoenix', which wound up being my largest to-date, and contains plenty of things I never intended to let anyone else read.
